GI Joe Rise of Cobra Destro Review

I have always had a slight interest in GI Joe. But it wasn't until the new movie that I finally started getting into the toy line. So far I only have gotten one figure, that being Destro, and here, I'll tell you whether or not I think you should purchase him or not.

THE PACKAGING:

The packaging is very nice to say the least. The figure and it's accessories fill the bubble, so you really feel likw your getting your moneys worth.

Destro is the arrogant, egotistical founder of M.A.R.S. Industries and, like his ancestors, a brilliant designer of military weapons that he sells to the highest bidder. His burned face is repaired with an injection of nanomites that heals the burns but changes the skin into a sliver mask.

Preferred Weapon:
M.A.R.S. Industries High Oxidizing Temperature flamethrower (HOT-JL)

Also, one thing to note, is that if done correctly, you can have resealable packaging! Slice the tape covering the tabs (Make sure not to cut the tabs themselves), peel the sticky stuff, and cut the bubble at the bottom, and at both sides.

THE TOY ITSELF:

Destro is a very stand out figure. The colors work well, consisting of mostly grey, black, and red, and the "mask" is silver. There is also a hole in his back that allows him to wear as far as I know, any GI Joe backpack.

ACCESSORIES:
Destro comes with quite a few accessories. He has a stand (in above pictures) that has his name spelled across the front. It also doubles as a dog tag with the Cobra symbol on the bottom.

Destro also comes with some guns. my favorite is the black pistol (A). He holds it the best, and I like pistols in general. When not in use, it can be stored in a holster that goes over the coat.
Another gun he has is a small silver gun (B). This gun looks good, but the handle is too small for him to hold it. (It took me a while to get it to balance in the picture)
Next, we have the large silver gun (No picture for this story dude). This is his secend best gun, IMO. It's on the rather large side, and looks good.
Then we have the gun with the wierd ammo magazine (C). To be honest, I can't get him to hold it for cr*p. I usually leave this gun on his left leg.

Jawesome. It looks JAWESOME. The only unfortunate part is that the connection is weak, and it's hard to pose Destro with this gun in his hands.

But wait, theres one more!
As far as I know, these guns are not very popular with most fans, and I can totally see why.
Anyway, Most movie Joe figures are packaged with oversized rocket launchers that fire missles. The one that comes with Destro is what I presume is the flamethrower on his file card. Ladies and gentlemen, this gun is BIG!

It looks ridiculous. And that's why I love it.

ARTICULATION:
Label me impressed. When I first ripped this guy out of the package, one thing I noticed was how much articulation he had. When I went to pose this guy for the first time, I said to myself; "Why don't all Star Wars figures have this kind of articulation?!"

Destro has a head joint, universal shoulders and elbows, swivel joints at the wrists, waist articulation, BALLJOINTED HIPS(!), double jointed knees, and universal alckes. All of these joints allow for a good number of poses.

FINAL VERDICT:

I am VERY impressed with Destro. He comes with a plethora of weapons, a stand, has great articulation, and looks good. If you buy GI Joes, I HIGHLY recommend picking him up.
